Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network (FLDRN) is the region’s federally-designated not-for-profit organ procurement organization (OPO). They coordinate organ and tissue donations across 20 counties in New York State’s Finger Lakes, Central, and Upstate regions. Their important work is carried out by working closely with the region’s hospitals to ensure the organ and tissue donation decisions of individuals, or their legal next-of-kin, are honored at the time of death.
Through partnership development and education, the Hospital Development team is responsible for supporting hospitals by:
Helping to create a positive culture for donation
Ensuring all potential donors and their families are provided the opportunity to make an anatomical gift
Presenting education on the donation process
Providing data to improve donation outcomes
Developing plans to increase the identification, referral, and recovery of medically suitable organ, eye, and tissue donors in assigned hospitals.
